Issues like this, sure needs to be brought up to peoples notice and also. There are government forums like http://fcamin.nic.in/index.asp and http://ncdrc.nic.in/ I am sure if people bring it to their notice, they will act upon it. Things are changing for good :)

The very fact that these people take the phone out of sight is fishy. And Nokia is further helping them with its recycle scheme where they must be using parts of used phones to replace the newer ones and to make fake bills. The agreement they make us sign won't hold in consumer court because they cant return the set in worse condition than what they themselves are stating in their forms after all you can't take somebodys expensive equipment and give it to a third rate mechenic and charge handsomely.I find Nokia third class when it comes to customer care and relations.

you should post this on an official nokia forum from their asia website. i posted an issue i had, though it somehow automagically got posted to other nokia sites, thanks to their own internal engine. nevertheless, it'll help you more i hope, if you push it on an official nokia forum. here's the post that i had started on a nokia forum, as an example:

>Ask the Nokia Care people to do whatever they want with the phone in YOUR Presence and probably video tape it so that you can have some evidence!!!

They wont do this. Rarely will any service center do this.
Inside a service center they handle equipment as if its a piece of crap.
And its not that sony ericsson will not have such a service center. Everyone has atleast 1 flaw!

I own a sony ericsson and atleast I was lucky that the service center I went to was better.
Although, I have a similar case as yours(not as intense) with my laptop. Read on: http://srikrishnadas.wordpress.com/2008/09/05/laptop-woes-episode3/

Not familiar with the phone I am assuming it is a GSM phone, if so do you have any of the original packaging as usually the IMEI number for that phone will be listed on a sticker on the outside, although technically re programmable the IMEI number is a bit like the MAC code on a network card and would clearly identify the identity of the handset.

Over in Europe most operators when you sign up with them ask for the IMEI number of the phone to allow you to deactivate it in the event that it is lost / stolen or swapped by a dodgy nokia service centre :)

I would talk to your network provider and see if they have the IMEI number for the phone that you are supposed to have and then get back to Nokia with your findings.

Hope this helps :)

Nokia doesn't want you to love them, but to _pay_ them ;-) Don't worry - that's quite the usual way of big business, and it has nothing to do with NOKIA in particular.

Take Siemens, SAP, Deutsche Telekom - one day you experience the same strange thing with customer service centers of any other big company in the world. And the bigger the company and the cheaper their offers, the worse - and it is rarely in the business policy of the company as such, but rather in the seriousness of the individual service people.

But it is, however, a common problem - for the customers as for the companies. I'm sure the NOKIA management knows about it (as any other company leaders do), but it is not easy to counter these problems from the top without damaging the own reputation.

I think it is a good idea to tell about your struggle to the public, and if you can get any legal instruments at low charge or no cost, you should use this, too.

However, don't be annoyed too much - but rather keep in mind how people don't want to be treated, and try to make it better by yourself.

As I do.

Regards from Germany,
